Austin Marketing Agency for Search & AI Visibility
Central Texas businesses get found in Google, AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity — then convert with branding + AI agents.
Inbound is an Austin-based team serving Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park, Leander and Hutto. We run SEO, Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) as one system, because a single page now has to satisfy a ranking algorithm and a model writing an answer. Pew Research Center's July 2025 analysis of real Google browsing data found people clicked a traditional search result in 8% of visits that showed an AI summary, versus 15% of visits without one. The click is getting rarer, so the citation has to be yours.

Where Do Austin Buyers Ask Their Questions?
In four places, and they behave differently. A Google result wants a page that ranks. An AI answer wants a source it can quote. Your business has to be present in both formats, on the same budget, at the same time.
Google Search
Still where high-intent local demand lands. Think with Google’s 2016 micro-moments research found 76% of people who search for something nearby on a smartphone visit a related business within a day, and 28% of those searches end in a purchase.
AI Overviews
Google said at its 2025 I/O keynote that AI Overviews reach more than 1.5 billion users a month. If the summary answers the question, being ranked #4 underneath it earns nothing.
ChatGPT
OpenAI reported roughly 800 million weekly active users at its October 2025 DevDay. Buyers now ask it for vendor shortlists the way they once asked a colleague.
Perplexity
An answer engine that shows its citations inline, so the brands it names get both the credit and the click. Entity clarity and cited sources decide who appears.
What Is Search Visibility (SEO, AEO and GEO)?
It is one service instead of three retainers. Our Search Visibility program combines SEO (ranking in Google and Bing), AEO (featured snippets, voice answers and People Also Ask) and GEO (citations inside ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews) under a single roadmap and a single report — one roadmap has to cover the classic result page and the AI Overviews layer Google said at its 2025 I/O keynote now reaches more than 1.5 billion users a month. Learn the differences.
- Technical SEO audits and on-page optimization
- Featured snippet and voice search optimization
- AI citation building for ChatGPT and Perplexity
- Local SEO for Austin and Central Texas
- Schema markup and entity optimization
- Monthly reporting and performance tracking
Why does this matter in 2026?
Because the answer increasingly ends the session. In the same Pew Research Center analysis, only about 1% of visits that showed an AI summary produced a click on a link inside that summary — the reader got what they needed and moved on. The brand named in the summary still wins the memory, the consideration and the branded search that follows.
Google has been explicit that citation placement still carries value for publishers:
“The links included in AI Overviews get more clicks than if the page had appeared as a traditional web listing for that query.”
What's the Difference Between SEO, AEO and GEO?
They share research and infrastructure, but they optimize for three different consumers: a ranking algorithm, an extraction system, and a language model. Here is how we scope each one.
SEO: ranking the page
Search engine optimization is the foundation: crawlable architecture, fast Core Web Vitals, internal linking, keyword-mapped service pages, Google Business Profile hygiene and earned links. It is what makes you eligible for everything else, because AI Overviews and answer engines draw heavily on pages that already rank and already carry trust signals. Nothing in the newer disciplines replaces it — Think with Google's micro-moments research (2016) found 28% of nearby smartphone searches end in a purchase, and those searches still resolve into a result list.
AEO: owning the direct answer
Answer Engine Optimization targets the surfaces that reply instead of listing: featured snippets, People Also Ask, voice assistants and rich results. The work is structural — question-shaped headings, 40-60 word answers placed directly beneath them, FAQ and HowTo schema, tables and definition blocks a parser can lift cleanly. AEO matters more every quarter because Pew Research Center measured traditional result clicks falling from 15% to 8% of visits once an AI summary was present.
GEO: being the source a model quotes
Generative Engine Optimization is the newest layer and the one with published research behind it. In “GEO: Generative Engine Optimization” (Aggarwal, Murahari et al., ACM SIGKDD 2024), the authors report visibility gains of up to 40% in generative engine responses from content-side changes alone. The tactics are unglamorous: cite credible sources, quote named experts, add real statistics, and make your entity unambiguous across the web. Read our field notes on getting cited in ChatGPT and Perplexity.
What Actually Improves Visibility in AI Answers?
We do not guess at this, and we do not quote agency case studies with numbers nobody can check. The most useful public evidence is a peer-reviewed study that tested content edits against a 10,000-query benchmark (GEO-BENCH) built from real search and question-answering datasets.
“GEO can boost visibility by up to 40% in generative engine responses.”
Which content changes move the needle?
The study measured visibility with a position-adjusted word count metric — how much of the generated answer your source actually occupies, weighted by where it appears. Three methods stood out: Statistics Addition (replacing vague claims with concrete numbers), Quotation Addition (adding quotes from credible, named people) and Cite Sources (attaching authoritative references). Each delivered roughly 30-40% relative improvement on that metric. That is why this page reads the way it does: every number on it carries a named source, and the sources are listed at the bottom.
What doesn't work anymore?
The same authors tested keyword stuffing — the tactic still sold as “AI optimization” by low-cost providers — and found it ineffective for generative engines. Models are not counting term frequency; they are assembling an answer from sources they can verify and attribute. Google's published guidance points the same way:
“Google's automated ranking systems are designed to present helpful, reliable information that's primarily created to benefit people, not to gain search engine rankings.”
Who Is a Good Fit for This Work — and Who Isn't?
Search visibility compounds, which makes it excellent for some businesses and a poor purchase for others. We would rather say so before the first invoice.
Who we work with
- Tech startups in the Silicon Hills (78727, 78701)
- Professional services (legal, dental, medical)
- Home services and contractors
- Retail and e-commerce businesses
- B2B companies in Round Rock (78665, 78664)
- Multi-location brands across Georgetown, Cedar Park, Hutto
The common thread is a real service, a defined geography, and a sales process that rewards being found first. That profile is abundant here: the U.S. Census Bureau estimated the Austin metro at more than 2.4 million residents in 2023, and the businesses serving them are competing for the same finite set of answers.
Who should start elsewhere
We are not a fit if you are looking for:
- • Quick overnight ranking hacks
- • Social media-only campaigns
- • Pure brand awareness without conversion strategy
- • Black-hat SEO or link schemes
- • Short-term projects under 3 months
- • Guaranteed placement inside ChatGPT or AI Overviews
That last one deserves emphasis. No vendor can guarantee an AI citation, because neither Google nor OpenAI sells position inside a generated answer. The honest version of the offer is the one the research supports: in the KDD 2024 GEO study, adding statistics, quotations and cited sources each moved visibility by roughly 30-40% on the authors' metric, while keyword stuffing did nothing. Our clients want that compounding version — sustainable visibility paired with conversion systems that turn traffic into revenue.
Why Does Search Visibility Need Creative Authority?
Being found is half the equation. Once visitors arrive — from Google, from ChatGPT, from a Perplexity citation — they need to trust your brand enough to act, usually within a single session. Pew Research Center's finding that only about 1% of AI-summary visits produce a click on the summary's own links tells you how scarce that session is. When it happens, the page has to close.
So we build the other half too: cohesive brand identity, conversion-focused web design, and content written for a specific buyer rather than a keyword. It is also the version of the work Google says it rewards, and the version an AI engine can safely quote — clear claims, named sources, consistent facts about who you are and where you operate.
How Do AI Agents Turn Visibility Into Booked Work?
By answering at the moment of intent. Think with Google's micro-moments research found 76% of people who search for something nearby on a smartphone visit a related business within a day — a window measured in hours, not business days. An unanswered form or a missed call falls outside it.
Website AI Agents
RAG-powered chat and voice agents grounded in your own documents, so answers match your pricing, service area and policies instead of improvising. They capture leads and book appointments on the page.
Learn MoreVoice Calling Agents
AI receptionists that pick up after hours, qualify the caller, and put the appointment on the calendar — useful for clinics and home services where the first answered call usually wins the job.
Learn MoreOutbound Callback Agents
Speed-to-lead callbacks that dial a new inquiry while the buyer is still on your site, re-engage aged leads, and hand warm conversations to your sales team with context attached.
Learn MoreCustom AI Agents
Multi-agent workflows that automate daily operations, sync with HubSpot or Salesforce, and execute the repetitive back-office steps that slow a growing Central Texas team down.
Learn MoreWhat Does the Inbound Process Look Like?
Three phases, run in order, with the evidence for each decision written down. The sequence maps to what the GEO research rewards: fix what blocks discovery, then publish material worth citing, then measure whether the citations arrive.
Audit & Strategy
We map your visibility across Google, AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity, log which competitors are cited in your place, and check the unglamorous fundamentals: crawlability, schema validity, and character-exact NAP consistency. The output is a prioritized 30-90 day roadmap, not a 60-page PDF.
Build & Optimize
We deploy technical fixes, restructure pages into question-and-answer blocks, add JSON-LD, and rewrite thin sections using the methods the KDD 2024 GEO study found most effective — real statistics, quotations from named experts, and cited sources, each worth roughly 30-40% relative visibility improvement in their tests.
Monitor & Scale
We track rankings, AI citations, calls and form fills monthly, then reallocate effort toward what is actually producing them. Reporting shows what changed, what it moved, and what we recommend next — with sources, never invented percentages.
Which Central Texas Markets Do We Serve?
Austin and the corridor around it, each with its own service page, its own competitive set, and its own local entity signals to maintain.
Austin
The 2020 Census counted 961,855 residents in the city of Austin, inside a metro the U.S. Census Bureau estimated above 2.4 million people in 2023. That scale means near-duplicate competitors in every category, which is exactly the condition where entity clarity and citations decide who an AI engine names. Start with our Austin AEO & GEO agency page or the AI Overviews playbook.
Round Rock & Georgetown
Round Rock reached 119,468 residents at the 2020 Census, and the U.S. Census Bureau named Georgetown the fastest-growing U.S. city with at least 50,000 residents for both 2021 and 2022. Fast growth means new search demand and weak incumbents — the best time to claim category answers. See Round Rock SEO, AEO & GEO and Georgetown SEO, AEO & GEO.
Cedar Park, Leander & Hutto
The northern corridor behaves like one market with several ZIP-level identities, so consistent NAP data and city-specific pages do most of the heavy lifting. We publish dedicated programs for Cedar Park and Leander, and cover the wider region in our Central Texas local SEO guide.
Based in Austin, Texas. Serving businesses across Round Rock (78665, 78664), Georgetown, Cedar Park, Leander, Hutto, and beyond.
How Does an Engagement Start?
Most Austin clients begin with a free strategy call. We audit your current search visibility, identify gaps in SEO, AEO and GEO coverage, show you the queries where a competitor is being cited instead of you, and map a 30-90 day roadmap you could hand to another agency if you wanted to.
From there we build and execute across search visibility, branding and conversion systems. No guesswork, no invented metrics, no promised placements inside answers nobody controls. Just the work the published evidence supports: statistics, quotations and cited sources were the three highest-performing methods in the KDD 2024 GEO study, each worth roughly 30-40% relative improvement on the authors' visibility metric, and that is what we implement on your pages.
Frequently Asked Questions About SEO, AEO and GEO in Austin
What is Search Visibility (SEO, AEO, GEO)?
Search Visibility is our integrated approach combining traditional SEO (Google/Bing rankings), AEO (Answer Engine Optimization for featured snippets and voice search), and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization for ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Overviews). It ensures your Austin business is found wherever potential customers search, instead of ranking well on one surface and being invisible on the others.
Do I need AEO and GEO in 2026, or is SEO enough?
You need all three, because the click is no longer guaranteed. Pew Research Center's July 2025 study of real Google browsing data found users clicked a traditional search result link in 8% of visits where an AI summary appeared, compared with 15% of visits without one, and only about 1% clicked a link inside the summary itself. SEO still decides whether you rank; AEO and GEO decide whether you are the answer that gets read aloud or cited.
What actually makes an AI engine cite my business?
Published research gives a clear direction. In "GEO: Generative Engine Optimization" (Aggarwal, Murahari et al., KDD 2024, arXiv:2311.09735), the authors report that content edits such as adding statistics, adding quotations from credible people, and citing sources delivered roughly 30-40% relative improvement on their position-adjusted word count visibility metric, with visibility boosts of up to 40% overall. The same study found keyword stuffing — a classic SEO tactic — did not help in generative engines.
How long does it take to see results?
Most Austin businesses see measurable movement in 30-90 days. Traditional SEO rankings typically show progress in 3-6 months. AEO results (featured snippets, voice answers) can appear faster because they depend on page structure as much as authority. AI citations generally take 60-90 days of consistent work, and no agency can guarantee a ranking or a citation.
What does an engagement with Inbound cost and how does it start?
Engagements start with a free strategy call that audits your current search and AI visibility, identifies gaps across SEO, AEO and GEO, and maps a 30-90 day roadmap. Inbound works on retainers with a three-month minimum, because the compounding work above does not fit into a shorter window. Email contact@inboundcms.com or call +1 (512) 325-0307 to scope it.
Do you guarantee rankings or a number of AI citations?
No, and you should be wary of any agency that does. Nobody controls how ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google AI Overviews assemble an answer, and neither Google nor OpenAI sells placement inside those answers. What we commit to is the work that research and Google's own documentation say matters: accurate entity data, schema markup, answer-shaped content, cited statistics, and transparent monthly reporting on what changed.
What makes Inbound different from other Austin marketing agencies?
Inbound was founded in Austin in 2018 and works on the convergence of traditional search and AI-powered discovery. Other agencies stop at rankings or social posts. We build the visibility (SEO, AEO, GEO), the creative authority that makes a visitor trust you, and the chat, voice and workflow AI agents that convert the traffic once it arrives. You can see the same standards applied to our own site: cited sources, dated pages, and structured data.
Do you work with businesses outside Austin?
Yes. Inbound is based in Austin and focuses on Central Texas, including Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park, Hutto and Leander, and also works with businesses elsewhere in the United States that need search visibility and AI marketing expertise.
Which Central Texas cities do you serve?
We are based in Austin, which the 2020 Census counted at 961,855 residents inside a metro area the U.S. Census Bureau estimated at more than 2.4 million people in 2023. We run dedicated programs for Round Rock (119,468 residents at the 2020 Census), Georgetown (named the fastest-growing U.S. city with at least 50,000 residents for both 2021 and 2022 by the U.S. Census Bureau), Cedar Park, Leander, and Hutto, and we work with businesses nationwide.
